2002 Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises

BY ANTONIO GALLONI | DECEMBER 11, 2017

Bollinger’s 2002 Vieilles Vignes Françaises remains one of the most compelling wines of this iconic Champagne vintage. Rich and lusciously opulent, the 2002 Vieilles Vignes Françaises is superb tonight. Hazelnut, lemon confit, crushed flowers, chamomile, apricot and spice give the 2002 its aromatic flavor complexity, but, as is most often the case, it is the wine’s sublime texture and cashmere-like feel that are most remarkable. The 2002 does not appear to have evolved much since I last tasted it, which make me think it may very well keep at its current plateau of maturity for some time to come. 98/Drink 2017-2027
