1990 Jacques Selosse Brut Blanc de Blancs

BY ANTONIO GALLONI | AUGUST 7, 2017

Seldom seen today, Anselme Selosse’s 1990 Brut Blanc de Blancs has become one of the rarest of all Champagnes. It is also one of the single greatest wines I have ever tasted from any region in the world. Absolutely stunning for its crystalline precision, freshness and kaleidoscopic intensity, the 1990 will leave readers weak at the knees. It is every bit that captivating. Most shocking of all, the 1990 looks like it will drink well for another 10-20 years! The 1990 is less oxidative than other wines from the same era (the 1988 comes to mind) or the style readers will find in recent releases. Every time I see the 1990, my heart skips a beat. Will this bottle be as breathtaking as the last? Most often, the answer is a resounding ‘yes!’ 98/Drink: 2017-2027.
