Best New Releases from Spain

My marathon tastings of Spanish wines during the summer of 1998 turned up many fantastic new bottles, as well as a bodega full of cheap wines that offer compelling value. (For a more comprehensive report on Spain top red wine estates, please refer to Gerry Dawes' coverage in Issue 74 of the Wine Cellar.) My report also includes a number of excellent roses and white wines, including a group of bracing, minerally albarinos from the cooler Rias Baixas region of northwest Spain, and several Cavas, Spain remarkably inexpensive sparkling wine.
